Visiting teacher and current president of KTD Monastery, Lama Lodro Lhamo, will be leading us in song and teaching on a set of compositions by the yogin Milarepa.
Milarepa's songs of renunciation are spontaneous verse teachings delivered to disciples, hunters, herders, and skeptics during his solitary meditation retreats in the Himalayas. Their central theme is the urgency of turning away from worldly attachments—such as wealth, family, reputation, and physical comfort—by emphasizing the certainty of death and the impermanence of samsara. Ultimately, these songs highlight that true freedom comes from turning one's attention inward, framing renunciation as the doorway to meditation and enlightenment.
A Zoom link will be made available for those unable to attend in person. Please sign up for the Hay River KTC newsletter to receive Zoom links for this and all of Lama Yeshe’s programs and Hay River KTC events. Click the button below to sign up for the newsletter.
Following the morning teaching, participants are invited to join in a group lunch at a local restaurant.
